Match of the Century

**This post is not for the faint of heart. We will not be held responsible for nightmares or sick stomachs. Consider yourself warned.

It was bound to happen to us eventually.

I mean, we live on a deer infested peninsula and we visit deer infested places.

By that, I mean the lake and the deer lease.

The lease has a healthy population of healthy deer.  Did you get that? Healthy population (good number of deer for the land) and healthy deer (the animals are healthy and edible).

The lake? Not so much. To many deer for the land and as a result, they are very sickly. Read: not edible.

Also, dangerous for motorists.

This weeks match-up:  Car vs. Deer

Where do you want to place your money?

Make up your mind before scrolling down.

Also, don't scroll down if you don't want to see pictures of the competitors.

One of them is dead.

Actually, both of them are dead.
Busted a hole in the radiator. At least she got to go home in style. By she, I mean the Camry. The other "she" went "home" in a decidedly un-stylish fashion.  But the Camry got to ride back to the metroplex in style and even saved us money in gas!
Now listen, Jeff came out of this scrape in one piece. No harm done to HIM. Just the car. And it was completely unavoidable on Jeff's part, too. He was driving in to work as he tends to do every couple of days, and WHAM! Right out in front of him races this doe. And just so you know, she didn't suffer a bit. Jeff said that once she landed, she never even twitched. Sad, but better than the alternative.

On a lighter note...

Addi tried to get herself engaged this weekend. The little guy whose lakehouse is next door to ours is a cutie. Apparently our 5 year-old thought so, too.

Let's call the little guy "Dave." That's not his name in real life.

Dave's dock has a two-story jump off it. You might remember that Addi jumped from there twice last summer and refused to go again. Well, once Dave jumped without hesitation, Addi just naturally followed right behind him.

Seems she'll do anything to impress a boy.

They jumped and swam for hours. Dave is 6 1/2 and oh, so handsome.

As it was time to go, Addi said "Bye, Dave. Hey, do you want to marry me?"

Dave said, very indignantly, "Nooooooooo!"

But from that day forward, we made sure Jackson chaperoned their little "dates."

Nothing like a little brother to kill the romance : )

And baby sister? She thought the whole visit was just perfect. She doesn't care about cars and deer and boyfriend drama. Just give her some food, toys, and a place to roll around and she's a happy gal.

She does ask that we wipe the drool off her chin every once in a while.

Big brothers never seemed to slow you down, (maybe culled a few) I guess we will see how this works out in the long haul!

He says no now but in 20 years, he might be asking Addi ( of course after he gets permission from her father) if he can change his answer.

Sorry about the deer and the car but glad Jeff is okay!
