THANK YOU to all of you who were praying for Melissa and Kyle on Friday night. She's going to be fine and will probably only have one tiny scar to show for the trauma of the evening. For those of you who don't know, Melissa and her mom were hit head-on by a drunk driver on Friday night around 8:45. Melissa was pinned in the car and had to be cut out and airlifted to the hospital. Despite the severity of the accident, she has no internal or head injuries. Her airbag did not deploy and her seat belt seems to not have locked, so she hit her face on the windshield. She's badly banged up but will heal with time. Her mom has a few broken ribs and a barely cracked sternum. Both were released in the wee-hours of the morning to go home and heal. Kyle was on his way to Israel (back to work for a few more months before being finished) but they caught him mere minutes before he boarded the plane in Atlanta. Despite being only a couple of states away, he wasn't able to get home until Saturday.
It's clear to us that God had his hand in this. Melissa's first words after the accident were to tell her mom to call Kyle. She did so, even before dialing 911. He was boarding his plane when he received the call and was able to get off. Had her mom called 911 first, they would not have reached Kyle in time. Also, the police are amazed at how well Melissa and her mom fared. The investigating officers came to the hospital after photographing the vehicle and told her how lucky she was to be in the condition she is in. We know luck has nothing to do with it but that God was and is watching out for her. It was a horrible phone call to receive, but God's mercy is clear and we have another reason to praise and thank Him for His goodness.
Thanks again to those of you who took my late-night phone call asking for prayers. They worked! Please continue to pray for quick healing for Melissa's face and broken hand---both are necessary before she can get back to work.
