Jeff and I went on an awesome adventure down the Brazos River this weekend. We took a canoe trip with the Jennigns and their (and now our) friends, the Bannermans. We put in just below the dam at Possum Kingdom and canoed about 20 miles back to Rochelle's, the headquarters for many such adventures. It was a two-day trip so we camped out on Friday night. We canoed about 13 miles on Friday, fishing a tad bit but not catching much along the way. We made camp on a little island and it was just beautiful. We cooked dinner and had s'mores around the campfire that night before turning in around 8:30. It dewed very heavily so got everything pretty wet, including our things inside the tent. The dampness combined with low temperatures made for a pretty cold night but we all enjoyed it anyways. We were VERY thankful for the warm fire Greg built Saturday morning before we got up. After a slow breakfast of cookies for me and banana nut bread for the others, we broke down camp, loaded up the canoes and hit the river. We shed our layers pretty quickly once we got moving and it turned out to be another beautiful day. The weather was absolutely perfect for this type of trip. Jeff and I cannot wait to go again, hopefully in the spring. We saw lots of good wildlife---plenty of blue herons, big hawks of some type, 3 deer crossing the river, a big buck on the shore, some turkeys, and hundreds of fish. Our camera battery was low so we didn't take too many pics but you can check the Jennings blog for more photos of the action.

For most of the day on Friday, I fished...

...while sweet Jeff paddled.

When we got home, Jeff took Addi fishing for a little while since we already had most of the stuff out. She played with the minnows most of the time while Jeff caught the fish.
