Here's the kicker...our insurance is denying the claim. I'll be on the phone with them all day tomorrow trying to get them to be reasonable. Ugh! (Kidding, of course. I'm not THAT far off my rocker). Jeff and I just can't believe we're having to fork over a pretty chunk of change for our trash eating, diaper snacking pet. Those close to us know that we're going through Dave Ramsey's FPU course right now and are on a cash budget with the goal of living debt free. This does not help. We're coping by staying light hearted and making up jokes about it so we don't get discouraged. Feel free to get in on the joke making---we need to get a few more laughs out of this little incident to feel like we've gotten a good deal.

Shoot fire!
No luck with the scope on Kate. The vet called Jeff just before 6:00 and he hadn't been able to get the lure out the "easy" way. We went ahead and had him remove it surgically, believe it or not. The other options were more risky and potentially much more expensive so our dog had surgery today. Our dog!!! I still can't believe the ridiculousness of it all.

The solution here is simple, call Papa John and let he and Jeff do surgery in the garage. Should be simpler than a Gorilla and he will probably let you pay it out.
Tell you what, I will put jars out at the local stores with a note asking for help about saving the Durand Bunch, please contribute!
You could let her swallow a fish to see if it swallows the lure... but that might eventually escalate into a tragic cycle like the old woman who swallowed a fly/ spider/ bird/ cat/ dog/ goat/ cow/ horse/ died of course". It might be cheaper, though. :)
a panda walks into a bar and orders a hamburger. it eats the hamburger, pulls out a gun and shoots the guy sitting next to him, and then leaves. the bartender chases him down and asks what in the world just happened. the panda replies, "i'm a panda- look it up!". so the bartender gets out his encyclopedia and looks up 'giant panda'. the entry reads: 'eats shoots and leaves'.
